Encrypting Connection String in 3.5

I am looking at this reference on MSDN:

Does anyone have experience with it and if so how did it go?

I have a few questions:

1. I have multiple connections to different databases, can this hand it?

2. Do I have to install or run this encryption on my Dev, QA, and Production Server?
