My situation:

Visual Studio 2005, c#

I have a large report that shows tables and graphs with data pulled from a database. The report takes about 20 seconds to generate.

All the tables in the report consist of gridviews. Sometimes, some values can be wrong, thanks to the database. So i want to be able to edit the report when i see it in the browser.

I'd like to be able to edit the cells/rows of the gridview. However, i don't want the window to refresh because this causes all the data to try to reload! (20 seconds per row?...) The row's cells text can only contain the actual value. I can't have it contain other controls or templates.

I have tried using javascript prompts to change the values but this was surface-only, and didn't acutally change the value in the gridview.

Any help?
