Text box looses line breaks when it sends confirmation email

I have a webform that collects data thru several textboxes.  When the data is used in the confirmation email, all the hard returns are NOT included in the email being sent.  It just seems to ignore it.  How can I keep the hard returns in the email so the formatting of text boxes is legible.  Otherwise rows of info entered by the user are smashed into one.
