Data entry form design

Given a Bill of Materials table containing the following fields:
CategoryID int
Item_Name nvarchar(50)
Item_Description nvarchar(255)
Unit_Cost money
Qty_InStock int
Is_Obsolete bit
Insert_Date datetime
Last_Update datetime
 
Let's find the simplest design in ASP.NET 3.5 for the data entry form (Select/Insert/Update/Delete) for the above. Note that category id needs to be picked from a dropdown of category names supplied by the category table.
Please provide tutorial/code sample.
