generic collection what a contradiction !

 1)Dim mylist As New System.Collections.ArrayList

2)  Dim myProductList As New System.Collections.Generic.List(Of Product)


{product is my personal  class }

See in the above 2 list we call the second one as generic list and  the first  one as  ordinary list
but the first one accept any type of object and i believe that the first one is more generous and generic.

but we call the second one as generic :(  collection even if it don't accept  any other object than product

what a miss contradiction ! :(
