Hello,
First, I couldn't find a place to ask 'general' questions, please move if needed.
I have a form to 'match' two groups of people (GroupA and GroupB), each will have their respective form to fill out and submit.  The form will contain 4 check boxes to act as a filter, gender, race, religion, or no preference.

Here is where I have the question:
From a personal stand point, I could see how these factors could be 'more important' than others, so I had considered adding a value (0-5) to each of the filter items.  The problem I run into is, "how do I factor this into the query?".  Alternatively I could have all filter elements be equal.

For learning purposes, I would like to at the very least attempt the value-based filtering, what should I look for to get started?  ( I don't have any code yet, still in the planning stages)

Thanks
