I am using the Membership functionality in a couple of new websites and think it's a great implementation, but after working with this and reading a number of forums (here and elsewhere + help text), I have a couple of questions...
(1) If a person turns on the Remember Me checkbox so they are automatically logged on the next time in, when in the scheme of their new session do they actually become "logged in"? Where and when is the earliest I can do "secured user" processing? Can I check for credentials in Session_Start or...?
(2) What is the most reliable method to request the UserId, UserName, and UserEmail of the logged on person? If I execute this functionality, what is returned if the user is anonymous? Nulls, empty strings, or ??
Thanks much in advance! For (2) above, I seem to read a number of different opinions of the best method to do this. I'm looking for the most reliable method to use.
