foreach in linq +delete

 Hi,  I couldnt see a better place to post this?,
 I have a foreach loop thats looping through a set of data from linq query, but when i delete one of the items as its looping through i get an error, what should I be changing to stop this happening?

             var con_items = from el in applicationRoot.Children
                            where el is connectorControls
                            select el;

         foreach (connectorControls conLink in con_items)
            {
     ...
