I've created a custom profile provider that is working rather well. Now comes the point where I wanted to install it in the GAC so that it can be shared among all applications on our server. Took the class file and created an assembly as "mySqlProfileProvider.dll". Signed it with a key etc. GAC install went without trouble and I've verified its existence in the assembly folder.

In a given application's web.config, I have the following which worked when the assembly was a local class file:

<profile enabled="true" defaultProvider="SqlProfileProvider">
 <providers>
  <clear/>
  <add name="SqlProfileProvider"
   type="mySqlProfileProvider"
   connectionStringName="IntranetSQL"
   readProcedure="usp_portal_getProfile"
   setProced ...

Go to the complete details ...
