I wonder if there's a general answer to it, one that has unbeatable arguments. Every time I'm in need to store documents within my app, I'm confronted with the decision where to store them. As far as I can see there are 3 useful options.
1. File system storage
2. Application database
3. External database
Every time I think about it, I tend to do the third, because it's accessible through other applications (if needed in future), it's easy to move/copy to another server, it will keep the app database small and it's secure, the only disadvantage I see is that I cannot doubleclick the files in explorer to view its content.
Any additions/remarks or other alternatives?
