I have found the ValidationSummary's message box does not appear when I specify a ValidationGroup value.
Please consider the following two examples, and let me know what I need to change in order to cause the ValidationSummary's client-side message box to appear.
In the first, I include ValidationGroup="VGroup2" for all validators and for the ValidationSummary.
In the second, I omit ValidationGroup="VGroup2" for all validators and for the ValidationSummary. "
So, presence of ValidationGroup is the ONLY difference between these two examples.
In both cases, the validator does work correctly during PostBack. But in the first example, that includes ValidationGroup, the client-side ValidationSummary popup message box does not appear.
