Remove HyperLink ID on client side

Hello All,

Thanks to a combination of nested MasterPages using ContentPlaceHolders, and Panels, I've ended up with some very long HyperLink IDs in my code (i.e. id="ctl00_cphMain_dlProducts_ctl00_hypContact"). Purely from an space-saving point of view, I'd like to remove all of these long IDs.

I've found that it is possible to hide these by overriding the render method, although I'm not entirely sure how. Also, I'm not sure as to how this would effect assigning values to HyperLinks on the server side.
