For an intranet site I am working on, users are stored in a local database. The names are equal to their domain account name.
Currently I am developiong an user maintenance page, on which some user can add new users who should have access to this site and change existing users. What I would like to have is 'Check names' functionality, so that when an user enters a new username like 'domain\\username' I can perform a check if this is a valid username, i.e. the entered user name exists in the AD.
For this to work, will I have to connect to the AD? or are there other solutions?
