Can not get Custom 404 Error Page to return a 404 status code

Hello,

 I was hoping somebody could help me here.

 I have a website www.YourNiteLife.com built in Asp.net 2.0. I want people to be redirected to a custom 404 error page when a page that has been requested has not been found.

I have this working for pages such as yournitelife.com/asdssad (Set in IIS) but not for pages with an aspx extension such as yournitelife.com/asdasd.aspx.

In my web.config file I have it set in the custom error section to redirect to my custom 404 error page. This works fine.

I have this code in my custom 404 aspx page which works for pages without an aspx extension.

Response.Status = "404 Not Found";
Response.StatusCode = 404;

%> 

The problem is that the page does not return a 404 status code.
