I have pieced together the beginnings of a custom LDAP Membership Provider.

All I have really implimented so far is the ValidateUser() method and of course some initialization in the Initialize() method.

This is authenticating great against our LDAP Server.  I dragged a Login control to the login page and it passes the user name to the ValidateUser() method fine. But the whole point is to get a user into the ASPNETDB.MDF users table so that the user can be integrated in with other services in the schema like personalization (of their web parts) and roles.  So I think the aspnet_Membership table would be ignored because that is replaced by our LDAP source.  But then I think I need to get  the user into aspnet_Users somehow and then everything else would work.

Does anyone know what else needs to be implimented in the Custom Membership Provider to get this all to work?
