How to user web service in application

Hi,

I am using Visual Studio 2008 for development. I have created a Web Service that returns user list based on initials passed. This will be used to fill list in my web application using AjaxAutoCompleteExtender. Can someone help me in how to deploy the Web Service and use in application in development environment.
