Help with the ORM vs Stored Procedures argument

I am the new Applications Architect/Development Team Manager in a small organization.�  It's been an Oracle shop for years.�  The Data Architect has been here for some years (was the one and only DBA till recently) and has pretty well called the shots in the development arena.�  The concept of developers designing their own DB objects and procs seems to be a foreign one around here.�

We''ve tons of VB6/ASP classic code, some 1.1 and 2.0 ASP.Net applications, all of which are� absolutely hideous in� architecture.�
