Social Network Via Asp.NEt

Hello
guys , I know you will probably consider me a noob , but execuse me i am really
new here

My name is Moustfa Mahmoud (CmpSamurai ) i am a Microsoft Student Partner , i
am studying computer engineering at Cairo University
I am starting this new project in college , where we are supposed
to create a social Network like (facebook ) .



I am convinced that we can do it in Asp.Net , but the fact that most Famous
Social Networks are not in Asp.net actually make me somehow hesitant .



So Can you point me in the right direction in the whole Social Network engineering thing [books & stuff ] , thank you all





1- Can A fully functional Social Network be implemented via
Asp.net , is there any limitations ???
 
2- should I consider Asp.net / Asp.net MVC


3- Can you point me in the right direction any advice would be priceless t ...
