Advanced/filtered search architecture dilemma

Dear group,

I am still working on creating a layered web application (based on Imar Spaanjaars articles).

The dilemma of the day is how to implement advanced/filtered search in the layered architecture way of thinking.

Lets fabricate an example:
We have two tables
tblOrders: ID integer, CustomerID integer, OtherStuff varchar(42)
tblCustomers: ID integer, Name varchar(100), OtherStuff varchar(42)

Every table corresponds to a business object, a manager class and a DAL class each.

In this example we also have a page for advanced search of orders, and an OrderFilter helper class. I am imagining a search could look something like this:

Dim myOrderFilter as OrderFilter
myOrderFilter.CustomerName = ââ?¬Å?Genco Olive Oilââ?¬Â
OrderManager.GetList(myOrderFilter)

The problem is that the order table is normalized and does not know the Customer name, only its ID.
