Self Validating Textbox

Hi,
I want to create a Textbox with inbuild validation like mandatory, allow only numbers., etc. i read some articles about Web Control library to extend the properties of textbox and we can create a custom one.
can any one share your ideas to do this kind of custom textbox with self validation
