OnPreRender not called on webcontrol derived from Menu, when request is made from Google Chrome

I'm having a very strange problem with a web control I made. Look at this class:

using System.Diagnostics;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;

public class Class1 : Menu
{
protected override void OnPreRender(EventArgs e)
{
Debugger.Break();

base.OnPreRender(e);
}
}

When this web control is used in a web form, the debugger breaks as expected when run from IE and Firefox. However, if I make the same request from Google Chrome it does not(!)
This behavior is not present if I inherit from the Button control (I haven't tested any other controls though). Another strange thing is that I can subscribe to the OnPreRender event of Class1, and that does work.
Can someone confirm this behavior, and if so, do you have an idea why this would happen?
