Problem: We have 2 tables. T1 contains parent information and T2 contains child information in a 1 to many relationship. Each record in T2 consists of a text note about the parent. We want to export the data to excel. The usual way to do this is to select the tables into a gridview and then export the gridview to excel. We will concatenate the notes into a single string so that each parent record contains a single field with ALL of the notes strung together. For the purpose of formatting, each note is separated by a double carriage return (vbNewLine). The problem is that neither the gridview or the exported excel file recognizes the carriage returns embedded in the concatenated notes field. I can overcome this by templating the gridview and using a textbox in place of the label but this creates a real mess when exported. Can someone suggest a solution?
Thanks
