I have an ASP.NET application using Windows Authentication. I have a User.aspx page to allow administrators to manage the application users. The page uses a GridView control to display the list of users. The datasource command string uses a simple select query on the aspnet_Users table to return the UserIDs, and the UserNames. Clicking on a Profile link displays the selected users RoleList, and Profile Properties. These can be edited and saved using System.Web.Profile and ProfileCommon.
I instantiate the profile object like so:
Dim pf As ProfileCommon = Profile.GetProfile(userName)
I can now access the built in properties of the object instead of having to write the code to manually grab the property values.
