coding advice

I built a project a few months ago and firstly i discovered that there was a number of ways of generating the same dynamic data. 
for example to output a table with information from a database.
Option
1. Standard Gridview
2. Page.Response.Write("<table>"); etc...
3. Table tbl = new Table(); etc...
4. and a mixture of using option two with standard controls
etc...
 
so there are a few ways of doing the same thing. I am wondering what is industry standard. what is the most efficient.
Anyone have any good advice for me.
