Hi
I am confused about something. I am working on a website that uses membership providers and CreateUserWizard.
I want to configure this to send e-mail to user after registration.
Currently the site does this the hard, a bunch of low level SmtpClient stuff.
Now I read how to setup web.config with <system.net> <mailSettings> and so on, which I plan to do,
But the old code also has a method coded: AccessPop3().
This code actually logs in to the domain's POP3 server and then logs out.
I found out that it does this because the service hosting the e-mail (Verio) requires a periodic POP3 login in order to accept SMPT inbound outbound e-mail.
This was once explained to me as being security driven (not clear how/why) and any ordinary desktop email client does this POP3 access automatically.
But ASP.NET, MembershipProvider stuff, CreateUserWizard and the <system.net> <mailSettings> has no sup ...

Go to the complete details ...
