I am working on a policy acceptance application for where I work. What they would like the app to do is to accept a querystring coming in and based on that querystring show the corresponding policy in the browser window along with accept and reject buttons and a few other things. At any rate an employee would receive a link in their email saying they need to review this policy and accept or reject it.
So your url in your email might look something like this: http://www.mysite.com/policies/default.aspx?policyId=10000001
So the policy itself should appear within this aspx page regardless if it is a PDF file or a Word file. I have an Oracle DB on the backend with a BLOB field that holds the policy files.
I can get the application to prompt the user to open, save or cancel the document (Word or PDF) by using:
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=" + fileName );
I can get the PDF to open in a new wind ...
