I am developing a very simple site. I do need to restict access to it however. Authorization would be done by providing a user name and password.
I could use the MembershipProvider but I would prefer to use something more lightweight in this particular case.
After the user has succesfully loged in I could store a cookie to signal that he is logged in. Is there a way to automatically have that cookie reposted on each postpack or request for a new page? That way I would know the user is authorized. In my master page I would check for the existance of the cookie. If the cookie is not present I would just rederect him to the login page.
This site will consist of two pages only (it is very simple).
Is this a valid approach?
The only unkown to me is how to get the cookies to automatically be sent back to the server with each request.
If cookies don't work I could store a value in SessionState to signal that it is an authentic ...
