I have created a ticketing system for tickets to access events.
Now the validation is done via a mobile scanning device which sends the barcode to a webservice.

This webservice accepts as parameters:

a uuid of the event
a secretkey of the event
the barcode of the ticket

based on the uuid and secreykey its determined if the request is valid.

The important aspect for my application is that its fast in returning the webservice result.

I currently communicate over https, which is slightly slower. So my question is: is https really recommended for a scenario like mine? And why (not)?

Thanks!
