i have a formview that when in edit mode, i want to be able to have a dropdownlist value populated with the value for that record in the database for that user.
with text fields it is easy - just use - Text='<%# Bind("employee_no") %>' but i want same thing with a dropdownlist.
currently it shows 'please select' in edit mode so if a user changes another field then this dropdownlist field is being updated with the default value and not retaining the existing value.
im using the modechanged event of the formview and checking if currentmode = edit (which i think is correct) but struggling to get the right way to pull this dropdownlist value back.
can anyone help?
