I need to watch a folder on my web server, so I am thinking about using the .NET FileWatcher object. I noticed as I was using it that it does not work well on the web because it needs to continuously run in order to work. I do not have access to install a service on my web server so I was wondering was there anyway to implement the FileWatcher for a particular folder on the web?
Every example I have looked at on the internet either is using the FileWatcher in a WinForms app or putting the FileWatcher code in the Global.asax. The latter requires consistant visitors to your site in order to keep it running, which I do not have.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can implement this? Thanks!
