I need java script code for displaying message box to the user.. I have a condition

else
{
Here I need to show message box.. if when we come to the else block.. the process should be end no other thing should be processed..
I tried using this
return false;
return;
it is not working bec my method having bec of this below one its allways asking me to return data table......
