Displaying the values in the dropdownlist by selecting another value in other dropdownlist

hello friends,

I had an question when gon to interview for .Net developers post in Bangalore in the first week of May2012.


See there are 2 dropdownlist boxes, when we select an particular country in one dropdownbox then other dropdownbox should display all the related states with respect to that country.

In general this dropdownlist box should be flexible enough to choose which ever value we select in the mother node the related values should be displayed in the child node

for this i couldn't able give efficient answer inspite gave logic like using for loop in the child node w.r.t to mother nodes id but i know that its not good or efficient one..


So friends give me ur valuable feedback with answer so that i could better prepared for the next interview.
