Client sever data updation query

I am developing an n-tier application with Windows client (WPF + CAB) connected to server�  via asp.net webservice.

Database is Sql Server 2005. There can be min 50� clients� connected to server at a time.

I am looking for� some data updation stratergy to update client display when data in server changes.

Current idea is to have a� timer in client which will fetch entire data from server at reg interval. Since there can be more than 100000 records, i am sure it is a stupid idea.

� 

Please suggest me a better idea.
