I am working on my first asp.net web site. It is an application that tracks communications between hospitals and incoming ambulances carrying patients.
I have all the forms, codes etc working. Now I need to write a class to handle the case numbers.
All communications between the hospital and ambulance are assigned a case number that I need to format from a few different pieces.
Example: a case number looks like this
10-00001-01
10 is the year
00001 is the actual case number in sequence
01 is the patient number (a case can have multiple patients)
Here are some functions I wrote to put these parts all together
Protected Function GetMedcomYear() As Integer GetMedcomYear = Year(Now) End Function Protected Function GetMedComSequence(ByVal strMedcomNumber As String) As Integer GetMedComSequence = Mid(strMedcomNumber, 4, 5) End Function Protected Funct ...

Go to the complete details ...
