I have been running a set of queries on my server (SBS 2003) using SQL Server Express 2005 for a few years now. I recently upgraded my workstation to a W7 machine and for various reasons thought it would be a good idea to move some of the processing and to the workstation, and installed SQL Server Express 2012 in order to do so.
I have noticed however that some of the simple queries are taking significantly longer to execute. On the old version, 1.6 million rows would be processed in six and a half minutes. On the new system, the same processed about 500 rows per minute - I stopped it after five minutes.
The older server version is SQL Server 9.0.5000, the new one is on 11.0.2100.
The query is the same, the data tables have been copied from the old engine to the new one.
Given that my whole update process used to take 50 minutes I am reluctant to take a 1000% increase.
I would be grateful for any thoughts/advice on this.
