I have a strange issue with a webservice that is running on a domain controller. If I access the web service from the local machine it works fine, if I try to access it from another machine it won't work properly unless i use anonymous access or use the default network service account. I had the following results: (windows authentication also checked in all 3 scenarios)
- anonymous access checked, domain account as the anonymous user, works
- anonymous not checked, domain account as the application pool identity, does not work (HTTP Error 401.1)
- anonymous not checked, network service as the application pool identity, works
I am only going from a client IE browser to the default service.asmx page, so there shouldn't be any hopping or delegation going on, but I did try to set a spn for the domain account regardless. I have also granted access to the account using aspne ...
