Console app within web solution

Hi, I'm developing a website solution that has the web project plus 4 DLL's.

 I have now created a console application that will interact with my DataAccess.dll

I'm coming up against a problem whereby when the console application tries to use the database, I get a null reference exception in my DataAccess.dll when referencing the connection string in my web.config.

When the website performs data access its fine. Is there any way around this?
