Ã?â??Ã?£ (pound sign with unwanted symbol preceeding it) when outputting data into a CSV file

Hi Guys,

I have a strange problem here which I cannot solve (and I've looked all over Google).

I have some text from a database that contains the british Ã?£ sign. The trouble is when I output the text into a CSV file, it looks something like this: Ã?â??Ã?£50.00

Does anyone have an idea how I can remove the funny A symbol in front of the �£ (pound) sign?
