Chaning Browser / Change Image based in Choosen ID from a XML File

Hello, im new to the ASP.net Programming.
Im Currently using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate Edition, to Program. I have 2 Questions and have not find a Solution for them:
1) When i want to look at a Implemented XML Data Source in my Browser (Shortcut CTRL+Shift+w) the Program is using the Internet Explorer. The IE Opens, but the side is keep Loading and does nothing. When i use Google Chrome, everything works fine. Is there anyway to change the Preset to Google Chrome from IE?.
2) Im using a CheckBoxList Item on my Site, which imports the Field "ID" from a XML Files (The XML is located at App_Data/Ressources/XML). I now want to Display a Image below the CheckBoxList, which changes based on what ID you select in the CheckBoxList.
Is it possible to f.e store the Current Selected "ID" in a Variable Called "Choosen_ID" and then read this Variable and change the Picture Displayed?
