Is asp.net website based on community server

Hi All,

I need to create a community website.
I have two products in hand - Sharepoint Server and Community server.
Though microsoft promotes its own product - Sharepoint- for making communities, forums, document library etc,
its own websites like http://silverlight.net , http://asp.net etc are created using Community server.
This leads me to  the confusion of whether to use SharePoint Server or Community Server.
Please pour in with your opinions/suggestions/experiences on drawbacks/advantages of using one above the another

Cheers
