What tools are used for stress testing? I found the Web Application Stress tool from microsoft but the web site (webtool.rte.microsoft.com) is no longer available? I don't have VS Team edition so I don't have access to the ACT.
The WAS tool works well but without too many detailed docs it leaves me with some questions. Can any one help me understand threads and sockets? Specifically, when testing to see how many concurrent users my server can handle should I be looking at threads or sockets? The WAS tool provides this formula: Threads * Sockets = Total clients. So does that mean 25 threads and 2 sockets is the same as 2 threads and 25 sockets? I don't think considering when I execute that in WAS the my server handles the first with no problem but the second causes it to crumple.
