I am developing a simple point of sales web application, I will be using a scanner (keyboard wedge) i have tested the scanner by opening a word document and scanning a barcode, i get the barcode digits on the word doc.
The application should insert stock into the database, where the user will scan an item, and then type the quanity and click save, for example the user will scan a box of light bulbs, and next to that in a another textbox, type in 20 and price in another textbox, and that will then get inserted into the database. This will ensure the client as 20 light bulbs in stock.
Then when a customer comes with his basket to the cashier, the cashier will scan the items and the stock should decrease, the cashier will ask the customer is that all? if the customer says yes, then cashier will click the calculate button and a total should be displayed. The customer will then pay and this will then be the end of the transaction.
