I am fairly new to web development, I have been asked to speed optimize a web application that we are currently working on.
The page that requires optimizing is an Add/Edit record form which comprizes of several pages, or 'Tabs', such as to give the user the feeling of a tabbed window. Thing is, the application is being developed for handheld smart devices, inclusive of iPhone, Android devices, Windows Phone 7, Windows Mobile 6.5 & tab devices (iPad, Galaxy Tab, TabletPC, etc.). Therefore the amount of data that is transferred up & down needs to be severely limited. I am already converting all DataBase populated DropDownLists (theres a SEQUENCE of 8), to be populated using basic AJAX (using XMLHttpObject).
I am stuck with the tab panel. The first option to create the Tab Panel was to use a wizard control, but the idea was quickly dicarded as selection of each tab executes a server postback. Currently I am sending all controls of each page encl ...
