Dropdown problem

I have a very strange problem. I bind the dropdown to a datalist, my problem is whenever the dropdown contains one item only then the user try to expand the dropdown list to check if there are more items the whole application shuts down. It works fine if there are more than one item in the dropdown. can you tell me what is going on
