Socket connection

Is it possible in asp.net to make a script that checks if Hostname and Port are open or not?
I searched a lot and i found only php scripts ($fsockopen), but the sad is that in Web Pages i cannot immplement that Php script like i need, so is there any script like that in asp.net?
