My task is to create an advisory panel on the homepage of one of our websites that can be dynamically populated with a message and turned on and off at a moments notice. To do this I'm thinking that an admin page should be created that allows the entry of the message and has an on/off button.
What are some methods of doing this? The message could be stored in a file that can be included on the homepage, or in a database. If the message was in an include file I'd need a way to edit that, similar to how how you can edit these posts (link to tutorial would be great). Then there's the question of the on/off button which I'm not sure of how to handle since it would activate an area on a different page.
If you guys can point me in the right direction I would certainly appreaciate it!
