I've seen several ways to do this:
http://www.asp.net/Learn/security/tutorial-11-cs.aspx
Talks about changing them into templates and then using a FindControl to set the visible = True or False.
I've seen other options that create a commandField object and then set ShowEditButton = True or False.
Is one way better than another way?
I thought using FindControl caused a bit of extra work on the server to actually find the control you want?
I take it there isn't a way I can address my detailsView or gridView directly and say Enable or Disable EDIT or INSERT on the data binding event? (Or some appropriate event)
Thank you
