I am trying to imlpement a client-side validation using ASP.NET AJAX framework for validations.
This seems an unsupported use-case by the framework design. On the other hand, this is an extreemly common usecase in many if not most applications.
The main conceptual problem is that web service calls need to be asynchronous, while the client side validation framework requires the validation to be encapsulated in a single method. To recognize the asynchronous nature of the service calls, we need to have more than single validation state (like valid, invalid and resolving) and to have at least two methods defined in a Sys.UI.Validator instead of the current single performValidation and to have appropriate adjustments on the level of Sys.UI.InputControl.
How are others going about this issue?
