The more I think about this, this is probably a crazy question. But I'm going to ask it anyway. I have been using the membership API in my website. I set the PasswordFormat to "Hashed". I need to know what algorithm the encrytion is based off of. Does anyone know?
My company is trying to write a Java program that can reproduce the hashes and authenticate the users logging in. But I cannot seem to find the algorithm that the membership api uses so I can match it. Don't ask me why they are doing it this way I have no clue.
Also I think I read somewhere that if you changed the web.config to a different passwordFormat would it change the format in the database?
