I was always interested in Microsoft technologies but I never knew where to get started with them. Until 2 years ago I really didn't understand the flexibility of them, however I have heard about the MVC ASP.NET framework and have been learning a lot about Microsoft stuff in college. I am currently taking the Windows Server 2003 class and enjoy how easy it is for me to do tasks versus when I have done them on Fedora. My question is has anyone made a full transition from PHP/Ruby on Rails or any other language into ASP.NET and IIS? The web platform looks very cool and I am thinking about jumping back into development with Microsoft technologies. I currently work as a commercial PHP developer here in southern California but companies treat it like a small kiddy language, even if you are a Zend Certified Engineer. My questions are:
How easy is it to do AJAX with ASP.NET?
How easy is it to make large scale sites with it?
